A Useful Look at Measurement of Inventory and Efficiency

I wrote this article forty years ago in my role as a material manager.  I was working for a company that manufactured plastic ophthalmic lenses and sold them directly to the labs that put them into frames for consumers. We carried over five thousand individual finished goods SKUs. This tool provided a better analysis of the quality of the inventory available to meet customer demand than just a financial analysis of inventory turns.
